Black Country: Life after recession

Black Country: Life after recession was the first photography project dedicated to the recession, focused on the heart of British heavy manufacturing, the area called Black Country. Representing the world from every human perspective this project uses heavy industry workers as a symbol for the recession. I wanted to capture this romantic look in their eyes and to make them welcome the viewer to their world.

I believe that a portrait should be more personal and descriptive to the person photographed and that environmental portrait is not only about working out how the environment is related to the individual but it is also an invite for the viewer into the subject’s world.
